This policy explains what data the TSD Masters of Diving app collects, why we collect it, how we use it, and the choices you have. We've tried to write it in plain English. If anything is unclear, email dive@thresherdivers.com.
1. What we collect
- Account data: the email address you sign up with, your display name, and (optionally) your dive certification level and home country.
- Sighting data: the species you log, the date and dive site, any notes you add, and any photos you attach.
- Account activity: stamps earned, points scored, and the dive logbook you build inside the app.
- Technical data: basic device and app information (operating system, app version, error logs) so we can fix bugs and keep the app working.
We do not collect your precise location, contacts, browsing history, advertising identifiers, or biometric data.
2. How we use it
- To run the app: show you your own logbook, your stamps, and your progress across tracks.
- To support staff verification of species sightings where required.
- To display anonymised aggregate data (species counts, popular sites) within the app and, occasionally, in TSD educational materials.
- To respond to support requests you send us.
- To fix bugs and improve the app.
3. Leaderboards and community features
The app includes optional leaderboards and a community sightings feed. Your display name and your sightings may appear there. If you don't want to appear, you can use a pseudonym as your display name, keep individual sightings private, or skip the community features entirely. You're in control.
4. Who we share data with
We use a small number of well-known service providers to run the app. They only process data on our behalf and under contract:
- Supabase hosts the database and authentication.
- Cloudflare hosts the app and serves static content.
- Apple and Google distribute the app and, if you choose, handle Sign in with Apple or Google sign-in.
We do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers. We do not use it for ad targeting.
5. Where data is stored
Data is stored on servers operated by our service providers, which may be located outside the Philippines. By using the app you consent to your data being processed in those locations.
6. How long we keep it
We keep your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your account record, sightings, photos, and personal data within 30 days. Anonymised aggregate data (e.g. "this species was seen N times in 2026") may be retained.
7. Your rights
- Access: email us and we'll send you a copy of the data we hold about you.
- Correction: edit your profile in the app, or email us.
- Deletion: in the app, go to Profile → Settings → Danger zone → Delete my account. Or email us and we'll do it for you.
- Withdraw consent: stop using the app and delete your account at any time.
8. Children
The app is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has signed up, email us and we'll delete the account.
9. Security
We use industry-standard security practices including encrypted connections and access controls. No system is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your data.
10. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes we'll update the effective date at the top of this page and let users know inside the app. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
